Communication will lead to a successful Forum

“Good content always has an objective; it’s created with intent. It therefore carries triggers to action.” Ann Handley

The importance of Communication

Participating in a Forum on behalf of your school means having many people around you who might not be acquainted with your activities.

However, what happens if we do not tell people about the Forum’s existence? Or if we do not communicate it effectively?

As soon as you know the date and the time, when the Forum activities have been started you have to let other people know about your Forum!

Therefore, first of all, you have to think about the people you would like to inform and their communication needs.

Different participants (students, experts, local decision makers) have different communication needs, but they all need the necessary information communicated in an appealing way!

As you may have realised, it is important to give communication and promotion a main role:

- Promote the Forum as soon as you have confirmed the basic information that others will need to know;
- Update social media often so that you always keep the attention high;
- During the Forum, do a lot of live Tweeting and blogging!
- After the Forum, let people know about the outcomes and the follow-up actions!

Remember that pictures or videos with short explanations are a winning way to attract people’s attention and disseminate your results.

Plan ahead: Start close… get very far!
